It has been said that “Tape is Dead.”  This is true in the consumer and B2B space.  If you desire to influence a business audience, you really only have two viable choices: a shiny disk or a web stream. The reality is that your audience either sits at a computer during the day or is in the field with a hand held device. Even the consumer has become accustomed to digital quality as they experience home entertainment through a component digital medium ... the DVD.

As it relates to the shiny disk, we have three available options. CD-ROM has been a great medium over the years and allows you to deliver “Application Based” media with a high level of interactivity and custom code; however, CD-ROM can be plagued with “dependancies”... meaning a certain list of requirements must be met on the host computer platform. Maybe you have experienced a CD which won’t play because of a missing plug-in.

DVD is a much stronger delivery platform if your program is video based. While DVD does have interactive features such as chapters, alternate angles and multiple languages, it is not as easily customized as CD-ROM; however, DVD will work in any modern computer, and any set top player, without any dependancies.

As we move into the high definition age, we are presently equipped to deliver HD-DVD on the desktop and Blu-Ray is around the corner. Presently, we suggest these mediums for controlled settings like trade shows, expos or in-house use. As the installed base of players increases, this will begin to replace DVD for everyday use.
